Image your c:\ drive first and save it in a safe location.

Backup your valuable data second.

Then delete the partitions you want to get some additional space from.

When partitions are re-sized restore your c:\ image and you should be good to go.

If you really mean six Hard drives then you cannot add space from one HD to another.

Or do you mean six partitions on one drive. For this you need a partition program like Partition Magic.

The key is whether you have Vista or W 7 and have the ability built in to do this or purchase a third party program to work with XP. If you have the former o/s's then check the help files for how to move disk space from one partition to another. if the latter, try a google search.

We need to clarify some terms.

One, do you make a distinction between partitions on a single drive or do you actually have multiple drives? If you have multiple drives, you will not have success making more space on your c:\ drive unless you enlarge the "partition" on the drive that has the OS.

Imaging is done with programs such as Acronis True Image. That is one I like but there are others.

Deleting drives won't increase space for your c:\ partition. Tell us more about the drive that contains the c:\ partition.

Woops. That should be partition, not drive.

Well then you need a petition Manager program as stated.

I like and use Acronis True Image but it is not free.

Here are a number of alternatives, some free. You might also consider identifying your hard drive manufacturer and checking their website for drive tools, some of which will assist you to either clone or image your drive.

Imaging essentially takes a complete snapshot of your drive such that when you need to restore it, it a complete and running operating system. Backing up performs a file by file copy which will not restore your operating system. Cloning a drive is something of a hybrid between imaging and a file by file copy.

I suggest imaging your c:\ drive to protect it while you identify more drive space. From the sounds of it, you might have quite a bit of maintenance to perform on the drive to get sufficient room for your operating system (which I think you've not shared with us which OS you use).

Imaging is a quite secure way to proceed if done correctly.
